Can Portbury Wharf nature reserve be run by the community?

Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve

Can it be run by the Community?  We think it can!

We believe there are many benefits of a community run nature reserve to preserve, promote and protect the wildlife here for generations to come.

Portbury Wharf is a significant area, it is the gateway linking the reserves of the Gordano valley, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with the Severn Estuary an internationally important *Ramsar site.

Following July’s well attended public meeting where there was great support for a community Trust we have gathered together a group of local people with the necessary skills to form a charitable Trust.
Later this month the prospective trustees have been invited by Portishead Town Council and the Gordano Parish Councils to present an outline proposal for a Trust run nature reserve.

*RAMSAR is an international convention for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. See more at  http://www.ramsar.org
